Blackwell Science and Munksgaard Publications Available On-Line

The Libraries are proud to announce that the Rensselaer community now has access to Synergy, the electronic interface to all 238 journal titles published by Blackwell Science and Munksgaard on-line. These ejournals, which are publications primarily in the natural sciences and medicine, are accessible at the full-text level.

Some of Synergy's other features include:

• Links within articles allow navigation between text, references, figures, tables and associated files. The chain of links extends out to external bibliographic databases and other web-based services, including MEDLINE, which allows users to read the abstracts of articles referenced.

• A Personal Homepage is created for every registered user. This page holds information on your subscription status, and allows you to set up e-mail table of contents alerts and run saved searches. Your Personal Homepage is your own private "front door" into Synergy.

• E-mail Table of Contents Alerts. The table of contents for each issue can automatically be e-mailed to you as soon as the issue becomes available on Synergy. This service is FREE and there is no limit on the number of titles that may be included.

• Synergy users can begin an on-line search with a single word, the title of any article, or any part of a bibliographic citation. Searches can be performed across all articles or a defined subset. Once an article has been located, links to bibliographic databases allow searches for similar articles or articles by the same author. Searches can be saved and run again, giving fresh results as the coverage becomes deeper and wider. Advanced searches allow field searching and the use of operators.

• Printing capabilities. Every full-text HTML article in Synergy is accompanied with a
  PDF (Portable Document Format) version, which enables you to download and print the article, including all figures and tables.
