Learn to Use the Library!
Tech Tuesdays continue through April, with all of the following classes
scheduled for 9:00 am - 10:00am in the second-floor PC lab of the Folsom
Library.
- Beyond Yahoo: Web Search Engines -- March 21 There are dozens
of Web search engines and directories now available, and not all search
engines are created equal. This course will provide an introduction to the
most appropriate search engines for academic/educational searches.
- How to Research a Term Paper -- March 28 The end of the semester
can be a stressful time, especially if you have a term paper due and are not
familiar with library resources and services. Give us an hour, and we'll
give you a solid introduction to library research, and a good start on
that term paper.
- Which Database Do I Choose? -- April 4 This is not your hometown
or high school library! We have dozens of databases available, and are adding
more all the time. Learn which ones to use for what courses, and avoid
frustrating searches in the wrong database.
- Full-text Online: Books, Reports, Journals -- April 11 It's
crunch time. That term paper, research report, or project is due, and you
can't wait for Interlibrary Loan or drive to Albany. You need information
available here and now! This is the course for you!
