The Libraries Invite You to Learn to Use e-Books and e-Journals

The Libraries will hold a series of demonstrations and hands-on labs to educate users about the new developments in electronic journals and electronic books.

Through the on-line catalog and links under Fulltext Databases in RensSearch, users now have access to almost 1,000 electronic books from the Books24x7.com collection of IT books and computer manuals, as well as to over 3,600 books in all disciplines from netLibrary, the largest source for eBooks. Each company handles eBooks in a different way, so these presentations are aimed at helping the researcher use these new formats effectively.

With links to over 1,200 e-journals in the on-line catalog, and access to another 8,000 through other research databases, RensSearch offers researchers a wealth of academic journal literature on the desktop or laptop. And because not all of these journals can be accessed individually as separate titles on-line, it is not always apparent to the user that the library does indeed "have" or "own" the journal. These workshops will help users identify the most significant collections of e-journals and offer tips on how to access them.

So, mark your calendars for the following dates! All sessions are will be held from noon to 1:00pm.
