The Libraries are pleased to announce the recent addition of two new electronic resources.
One new visually rich electronic resource is the Grove Dictionary of Art Online. Covering all forms of the visual arts -- painting, sculpture, architecture, graphic and decorative arts, and photography -- from pre-history to the 1990s, this comprehensive electronic art reference work also contains links to on-line color images and important image sites.
The AccuNet/AP Photo Archive database, which was just added to the Libraries' menu of electronic resources, provides users with immediate Internet access to a collection of historical and current images from the Associated Press. Containing over 700,000 photos and updated by the minute, this archive is the largest collection of news photos available on-line to students and faculty.
With its easy-to-use interface, the Photo Archive becomes a comprehensive tool for researching major news events photographed from the 1840s to the present. Users will find the Photo Archive especially vital for dissertations, thesis, and multimedia presentations.
If you would like to access either of these two new resources, you may do so by by first clicking on the Databases link on the Libraries' main RensSearch homepage, and then clicking on the alphabetical list of all databases or on the Architecture & Arts subdivision.
Each database comes with its own detailed user guide, but if you should need more assistance, you may either stop by or call Folsom's Reference Desk at ext. 8320 (ext. 6465 for the Architecture Library) or direct any electronic mail to lib-ref@rpi.edu.
