LaTeX for Your PC

LaTeX for Your PC

If you would like to run TeX/LaTeX on your PC or laptop, Academic and Research Computing (ARC) can provide you with a CD-ROM that contains ready-to-run systems for Windows computers, as well as most types of UNIX. The TeXLive6 CD, which contains all the necessary programs to edit, run, preview and print TeX and LaTeX files, as well as a huge collection of LaTeX packages and many supplementary programs, is the result of collaboration between the U.S. TeX Users Group (TUG) and the TeX user groups of many other countries, including France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. For more information on this CD, please refer to the URL http://www.tug.org/texlive/ .

Users should note that the installation process takes at least an hour, and requires 300-500 MB of disk space.

If you are interested in having a copy of this CD, along with installation instructions prepared by ARC, contact Harriet Borton by directing electronic mail to bortonh@rpi.edu.

ARC will be offering a short course in LaTeX in February. Please refer to the article "ARC to Offer Short Courses" for a course description and additional registration information.
