The Rensselaer Libraries are pleased to announce ILLiad, a new system for submitting and processing interlibrary loan requests. ILLiad enables you to submit, track, and review requests for publications not available from our libraries' resources, and makes interlibrary loan service a paperless process for both researchers and library staff alike.
To use the new interlibrary loan system, first select the RensSearch link under the Libraries section of the RPInfo homepage, then click on the ILLiad link, located under the Services menu. The first time you log on, it will be necessary to register as a "new" user, but once registered, you can use ILLiad to submit both interlibrary loan and library photocopy requests.
What's more, you'll also be able to request loan renewals, review completed requests, edit and resubmit canceled requests, and retrieve some documents in PDF format in lieu of printed photocopies. Interlibrary loan staff will also be able to match requests that you submit using other library databases, such as WorldCat, to your ILLiad record.
In addition to checking on the processing status of their requests, researchers can attach notes and see staff annotations about their requests. Faculty and other researchers can also identify student assistants and other support staff authorized to pick up requested materials for them at the library and to specify a variety of payment methods using ILLiad's Add/Edit Accounts function.
If you'd like additional details about these and other ILLiad functions, as well as an FAQ covering general questions about the system, you can find them at the following URL:

You can access the above links, as well as more information about interlibrary loan policies and services, via the Libraries' RensSearch web page by selecting the Information link from the RensSearch page, and then the subsequent Library Policies and Interlibrary Loan for Rensselaer Users links. Alternatively, you may enter the following URL in the Address or Location field of your browser window:

ILLiad, which was developed at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, has also been implemented recently at Cornell, Duke, Cal Tech, CMU, and BYU.
