An Important Reminder for Current EZ-Backup Users
An Important Reminder for Current EZ-Backup Users
If you're still using the EZ-Backup file backup service, you should
take note that this service will no longer be available as of the last day
of this month. EZ-Backup is being replaced by a new backup service called
EZ-Snapshot; you can transfer your EZ-Backup registrations to
EZ-Snapshot by submitting a registration form.
You can find EZ-Snapshot information at the URL
http://www.rpi.edu/dept/cis/software/tsm/public_html/ez-snap.html.
From that site, click on the Installation Instructions link to access
EZ-Snapshot registration forms in .doc or .pdf format. These forms are
also available at the VCC Help Desk. The Help Desk consultants can answer
any questions you may have, or you can send your questions via e-mail
to ezsnap-support@rpi.edu.
Some Final Notes...
- Macintosh users: A Mac client for EZ-Snapshot should become
available this month, so please check ACS' What's New page regularly for the
latest news. (To do this, select the Academic Computing Services
link from the RPInfo homepage, then the What's New link from
the resulting ACS homepage.)
Mac users can temporarily continue to use EZ-Backup, but they must still
register for the new EZ-Snapshot service before January 31, 2001.
- The backup data for EZ-Backup users' nodes will be deleted from the
TSM system on January 31, 2001. After the backup data is deleted from TSM,
the EZ-Backup service will no longer be available.
- Since all EZ-Backup registrations will be removed on January 31, 2001,
it is not necessary to notify us if these registrations are no longer
in use.
