CIS Takes New Form under DotCIO Reorganization

Last year, the President created the cabinet position of Chief Information Officer to recognize and promote the importance of information strategies for the Institute.

"Information is the lifeblood of any research university," says Chief Information Officer John E. Kolb. "In order for the Institute to achieve its commitments to the Rensselaer Plan, it must make strategic use of its information resources and infrastructure."

As part of the Performance Planning process, the former Computing and Information Services (CIS) has been reorganized into the Division of the Chief Information Officer (DotCIO), which now consists of seven departments, having the following directors and responsibilities:

In addition, please note that some of the changes associated with this reorganization will take time to accomplish. For example, you'll continue to see the initials "ACS" and "CIS" on many of our printed and electronic publications for a while, so we'll appreciate your patience during this transition.
