A Reminder about Using External ISPs

If you sometimes use an external Internet Service Provider (ISP), remember that you must reconfigure your mail client to use that ISP as your Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server to send mail outside of Rensselaer.

For example, if you're a RoadRunner (nycap.rr.com) user in the Capital District, you will have to configure your mail client to use smtp.nycap.rr.com as your SMTP server while connected via RoadRunner, if you wish to send mail to any recipient outside of Rensselaer.

If you have any questions about your mail configuration, please direct them via electronic mail to consult@rpi.edu. In addition, you should contact your ISP with any questions you may have about using their mailer.

Thank you!
