In an on-going effort to try to keep all of DotCIO's computing equipment in the best possible working order, as well as maintain the overall cleanliness of the computer labs, we would like to remind all users that food and drink is not allowed in any of the lab areas.
Now, we do understand that students need to take a break from time to time, and that they often don't have time to run back and forth between classes and the dining halls in order to get something to eat. However, past food and drink spills have resulted in the loss and damage of various pieces of equipment -- keyboards are especially vulnerable -- and such casualties can become quite costly to repair or replace.
Therefore, if you do have to take a snack break, don't run the risk of ending up with a Coke in the keyboard or pizza on the PC screen. PLEASE take your food and/or beverages to a designated cafe space, such as the snack area in the front of the VCC, the Library Cafe, or even outside to the picnic tables on nice days. And if a member of the DotCIO staff should ask you to take your food and/or beverage out of the lab, please respect their request. Everyone -- the staff, other students, and the buildings' cleaning staff -- will benefit from your consideration and cooperation.
