Telecommunications is pleased to announce a recent reduction in long-distance rates, as well as its new cell phone loaner program! The department also wishes to remind the campus community of Rensselaer's prepaid calling cards.
As of August 1, your Telecommunications bill now reflects a reduction in the cost of Long Distance calls within the continental United States. The new cost for these calls is seven cents per minute, regardless of the day of the week or the time of day.
We now have Cingular wireless cell phones available for rent on a weekly basis for Rensselaer business purposes. A limited quantity is available for faculty and staff who need a phone temporarily; rental charges will be billed to a department account number. Please contact Nancy Williams at ext. 6609 for more information.
Remember, Telecommunications also offers prepaid calling cards to Rensselaer departments, at a cost of $15.00 each. Each card includes 105 minutes of long-distance calling, with an average cost per minute on calls placed within the United States of 14 cents. (The price will be higher for international calls, based on what country you are dialing.)
The cards, which can be used for business travel, provide a less expensive alternative to paying the exorbitant rates hotels charge for placing long-distance calls.
If you would like to purchase one of these prepaid calling cards, please e-mail your request to Nancy Williams at willin@rpi.edu. Be sure to include your department name and account number.
