New Library Resources
New Library Resources
The Rensselaer Libraries continue to add important electronic instructional
and research resources to their already significant collections. New products
available this year include:
- IEEEXplore - The Libraries offer access to two sections of the
IEEEXplore collection. The All-Society Periodicals Package (ASPP), the
core collection of electrical engineering and computing publications in
the world, includes 104 IEEE Society-sponsored transactions, journals,
and magazines covering every aspect of electrical and computer science.
IEEE publications consistently rank at the top in the various fields
of technology, and IEEE's classic collection, the PROCEEDINGS ORDER
PLAN (POP), includes 135 proceedings of the most important IEEE-sponsored
conferences.
- Cambridge Scientific Abstracts - Four major components of CSA
are now available to library users: the Biological Sciences Database,
which includes zoology, botany, microbiology, genetics, medicine,
biotechnology and bioengineering; the Computer Science Collection; the
Materials Science Collection with METADEX; and the NTIS database.
- netLibrary - netLibrary is the largest on-line library of
eBooks, which are electronic versions of printed books; they have the
same information, are enriched with photos and illustrations, and you
can view them on-line from any computer connected to the Internet. With
netLibrary's technology, you can not only search titles, authors, and
keywords, but the entire text of any eBook, so that you can instantly
pinpoint the exact information you need. You can view eBooks free
for 15 minutes for quick reference, or "borrow" and read them at your leisure.
- ACM Digital Library - Our new subscription to the ACM Digital
Library provides access to over 31,000 full-text articles published in ACM
(Association for Computing Machinery) periodicals, from 1985 to the present,
and ACM and ACM SIG proceedings, from 1991 to the present. Indexing and
TOCs from 1985 are also available.
- New Global Disclosure Products - Two new products from Primark,
the company that offers Global Disclosure, a premiere resource for business and
management information, are also now available. RDS Business and Industry
provides in-depth research on companies, industries, and products;
information provided includes strategic data such as market share,
market size, sales, shipments, consumption, and forecasts. RDS Business
and Management Practices provides overview information on management
practices and the economic and regulatory climate of your favorite
companies; it also indexes companies and products, industry sectors, and
geographic and trade names. This resource also includes information on
topics such as arbitration, automation, best practices, and buyouts.
