Registering Your Homepage

If you would like your homepage to be accessible from the campus directory in RPInfo, you can register it using RCS.

Students can register their World Wide Web homepages using the RCS program, personal_info. To set up a link from the campus directory to your WWW home page, enter the following command at a UNIX prompt:

       personal_info -url http://www.rpi.edu/~yourid

Faculty can register their homepages using the dirinfo program by entering dirinfo at a UNIX prompt. Once in dirinfo, enter

       url
       http://www.rpi.edu/~yourid

RPI's World Wide Web server assumes that all Rensselaer home pages are named index.html. If your home page has a different name, add that name to the end of the URL (http://www.rpi.edu/~yourid/filename.html).

Your changes will appear in the on-line campus directory within 24 hours. The listing of your homepage site will appear in your directory information as a hypertext link to your homepage.
