NEdit is a GUI (Graphical User Interface) style plain text editor for workstations with X Windows and Motif. It is written to maximize usability for people who do intensive and continuous editing, but at the same time, it's easy to learn and is also good for more casual use. For programmers, NEdit provides automatic indent, block indentation adjustment, parenthesis flashing, and UNIX ctags processing
To start NEdit, click on Nedit: Text Editor button at the RCS Applications Menu. A moment after you start NEdit, a separate NEdit window should appear on your screen, with six pull-down menus in the upper left corner, and a Help menu in the upper right corner. The text cursor appears as a vertical bar.
For more information on using NEdit, refer to the Tips and Hints section below.
Information on NEdit is contained in this document, and through the Help pull-down menu within the NEdit program itself. You can also refer to /campus/other/nedit/3.1.1/common/doc/nedit.doc for the complete NEdit documentation.
