More Information on the Student Edition of Maple V
A student version of Maple, a powerful, interactive computer algebra
system, is available at the ACS Computer Store. Both Macintosh and DOS
PC versions are available.
Maple V features:
- More than 1700 built-in mathematical functions that can be modified
or extended
- An expanded and complete online help system that allows you to navigate
quickly from one topic to another
- Both 2D and 3D graphics in 24-bit color
- A worksheet interface that gives you control of type styles and fonts
and allows you to mix mathematics, text, and graphics
- The ability to manipulate graphics interactively
- Numerous specialized features for engineers, as well as a new facility
for defining and using mathematical operators
- The ability to convert equations to a form readable by TEX, the mathematical
typesetting language
- The ability to generate both FORTRAN and C code
The following Maple packages, which are clusters of related Maple commands
loaded to provide added functions to Maple, are included:
- linear algebra
- number theory
- orthogonal polynomials
- graphics package
- linear optimization
- statistics
System requirements include a Macintosh with 2 MB RAM and a hard disk,
or a DOS PC with an 80386, 80486 or later processor, with 2 MB RAM and
at least 7 MB free on a hard disk.
