Whenever you pull down one of the menus at the top of the main FrameMaker document editor window, you might notice that most of the menu items have an odd-looking sort of "code" which begins with an exclamation point (!) and appears immediately to their right. These "codes" are actually FrameMaker command shortcuts.
On RCS, press the ESC key in place of the "!" . For example, the shortcut for the Print... command on the File menu is !fp, so you would enter ESC-f-p. If a shortcut contains an uppercase letter, hold down the Shift key while you press the appropriate letter key.
If you place the mouse cursor anywhere on the main FrameMaker "button bar" menu, you can use the following keyboard commands instead of clicking on the various buttons:
!fn New
!fo Open
!fh Help
!fe Exit
If you place the mouse cursor anywhere inside the main FrameMaker document editor window, you can use the following keyboard commands (among others):
!fs Save
!fa Save As
Some other shortcuts:
F6 previous page F7 next page Shift-F6 first page in document Shift-F7 last page in document Page Up (Pg Up) next page Page Down (Pg Dn) previous page Shift-Page Up last page in document Shift-Page Down first page in document
Shift-Home top of page Shift-End bottom of page Home beginning of line End end of line
These keys toggle from the style back to the default font for the paragraph. Shift-F1 default for paragraph Shift-F2 bold Shift-F3 italic Shift-F4 underline
For a complete list of shortcuts, you can open and print the two-page FrameMaker document /Frame/docs/QuickRef.doc. A small manual called FrameMaker Shortcuts is also available at the Help Desk in the VCC, on reserve in the Folsom Library, and in the labs in Sage 4510, JEC 3207B, and Nugent.
