Changing Line Spacing in a FrameMaker Document

Changing the line spacing (to double spacing, for example) in FrameMaker is as easy as changing one number. However, which number to change isn't immediately obvious.

To change the line spacing:

  1. Select the Format menu; a pop-up menu appears.
  2. Select Paragraphs, then Designer from the next pop-up menu that appears. A separate FrameMaker Paragraph Designer window will appear.
  3. Locate the Line Spacing: field in the Paragraph Designer window; you should notice that the current value is set to 14.0 pt.
  4. Position the mouse cursor over the small triangular "arrow" located to the right of this field, and press and hold down the left mouse button. A small pop-up sub-menu should appear.
  5. Continue to hold down the left mouse button, and then drag downward in the sub-menu until the Double (28.0 pt) option is highlighted.
  6. Release the mouse button. The line spacing should now appear as 28.0 pt in the Line Spacing: field.

Remember to apply the change (usually to all your "body" paragraphs and the paragraph catalog) after you change the line spacing value.
