FrameMaker, a full-fledged desktop publishing package that enables you to create both short, simple documents and long, complicated documents, combines word processing, graphics, page layout, and book building in one package.
Some of FrameMaker's features include:
FrameMaker comes with a number of pre-made document templates, or you can create your own.
FrameMaker has extensive on-line help; hardcopy manuals are also available for reference at the VCC Help Desk and on reserve in Folsom Library.
To run FrameMaker, choose the FrameMaker entry from the RCS Applications menu, or enter the command
maker &
from a UNIX window.
When FrameMaker starts, a rectangular "button bar" containing five buttons labeled NEW, OPEN, HELP, INFO, and EXIT should appear on your screen. Brief descriptions of these buttons' functions appear in the table below:
NEW Opens a new FrameMaker file
OPEN Opens an existing FrameMaker file
HELP Accesses FrameMaker's on-line help
INFO Provides FrameMaker license information
EXIT Exits the program
Left-click on these buttons to activate them.
Please note that the version we are licensed to use is specifically designed for use with the Motif Window Manager (MWM), the default window manager used on RCS. We cannot guarantee its performance under other window managers.
