Data Sets in DataExplorer

DataExplorer can use data sets from several different resources; the package uses the Import module to read external files, and creates DataExplorer objects which other modules may then process and manipulate. DataExplorer accepts the following types of external files:

dx
This is DataExplorer's own internal file structure.

general
This format allows the importation of general data files by creating a header file which describes the file format to the import module.

cdf
NetCDF are standard format binary files based on Unidata Program Center in Boulder Co.

All of these file types are all described in detail in the DataExplorer help system. To activate help for the Import module, select Import and Export from the Categories: selection box and press the middle mouse button over the Import module name.
