Subject: Scanners

Supported by: ACS

Description:

It is useful to scan images and then save them to include in reports, documents, other computer work, or for your own personal use. ACS has four color scanners available for your use.

Getting Started:

Currently, two scanners are available for use with two Macintosh Quadras in the Sage Macintosh Lab (Sage 4711), and another is available at the Help Desk in the VCC also attached to a Mac. There is a fourth scanner located in the southwest lobby of the VCC attached to a PC.

Documentation:

There is a memo RPI.126, Scanning Images and Text available with instructions on using the scanners.

Manuals are available in the labs for the scanners and Adobe Photoshop.

Tips and Hints:

You can reserve time to use the scanner at the Help Desk by calling the VCC consultants at ext. 7777.

When not reserved, the service is on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you are using the scanner on this basis, you must be ready to relinquish it to someone with a reservation within five minutes of that person's arrival.

Possible Problems and Solutions:

The reservation system is an attempt to allow people to better schedule their work. People who reserve time and do not show up to use the scanner or who do not cancel their reservations will have their reservation rights removed.
