Ends access to your RCS account.
As long as you are a registered student, faculty or staff member, at Rensselaer, your RCS account remains active. When you are not registered, or leave employment at Rensselaer, your account is set to expire. If you are a student and the Registrar's Office cancels your registration, your RCS account is automatically set to expire.
To check if your account is set to expire, enter the following command at a UNIX prompt:
account_status -expire
You can also look in the Student Information System (SIS) To access SIS, left-click on the SIS option on the RCS Applications menu. From a remote connection, you can enter the sis command at a UNIX prompt.
none
If you leave Rensselaer, even graduate, and come back a year later for more study, you can reclaim your old account. Your userid will be reserved for up to a year.
If your account is expired, you will not be able to log on to it. Your files are saved to tape and your password is automatically changed. If you reregister, your account will be reactivated and it will be assigned another password, which you can pick up at the VCC Help Desk.
