You can bring your computer and use it to connect to DormNet to access the Rensselaer Computing System (RCS), the library catalog, and other systems. Benefits of having a computer in your residence hall room include:

If you will be living on campus, and you have a modem, please don't use it to call DormNet. We prefer to keep the DormNet dial-in modems open to answer calls from off-campus computer users. If you have a network connection in your room, you won't need a modem. In fact, one residence hall, the Quadrangle, uses phone lines that do not work with modems at all.
