The Second Annual Eighth Street Reunion
The turn-of-the-century Victorian house, now, sadly, demolished, included large rooms, oak floors, marble countertops, a grand staircase, high ceilings, pocket doors, and a carved Victorian organ that you pumped with your feet. Our group included RPI students, alumni, and others. We had communal meals most evenings, a vegetable garden in the backyard, a huge library of recordings, and a lot of talent to go around.
Special guest at this reunion was Lou Hammer, poet and retired (1994) chair of the philosophy department, which had such a great influence on these eminent graduates. Cynthia Ligenza 74 (Phil., Biol.) is a physician with her own practice, specializing in internal and pulmonary medicine, and is also a violinist. Dave Richardson 72 (Phil.) runs the library at MITs Whitehead Institute of Biomedical Research. Dell Campbell 76 (E.E.) is an expert in industrial controls, with an amazing career track record. David Liguori (Phys., E.E.) works in SUNY Albanys physics department, where he is pursuing a Ph.D. Leslie Craigue 73 (Math.) works with computer systems and writes occasionally. Lise Winne is an artist, musician, and singer/songwriter. John Conners is a fine artist. Reed English fabricates ornamental ironwork. Bonnie Fucci manages a NYS government daycare center.
Many others were associated with Eighth Street. And many of us now have families. For more photos and information, visit www.eighthstreet.org. by Leslie Craigue 73
