Motorola Names Edward Zander ’68 Chairman and CEO

Zander has more than 25 years of experience in technology companies. Prior to Silver Lake Partners, he was president and COO of Sun Microsystems until June 2002. During his tenure, Sun grew to $18 billion in revenues. Earlier, Zander served as president of Sun’s software group where he oversaw the development and marketing of Solaris and led Sun’s network management, PC integration, and software product suites. Prior to joining Sun in 1987, Zander held senior management positions at Apollo Computer and Data General.

Zander is a director on the board of Seagate Technology. He also serves on the board of directors of several educational and nonprofit organizations including the Jason Foundation for Education and the advisory board of the School of Management of Boston University. He is a member of the science advisory board at Rensselaer.
