With the recent refurbishment of the Approach, the Class of 44 undertook a project to have a plaque honoring those alumni who gave their lives in WWI placed at the top of the stairwell. Bob Barnes 44 was instrumental in facilitating the project, which ensured that plaques remembering both World Wars stand together at the top of the Approach. In addition, a plaque was installed at the foot of the Approach commemorating the site of the original gymnasium that later became the Playhouse.
