The
Class of '44 and the Curtiss-Wright Cadettes hosted a reception
during Reunion '99 in June to celebrate the restoration of The Approach,
a project to which the class devoted considerable enthusiasm and
generous financial support. In addition, the class was instrumental
in having the WWII war memorial plaque moved from the Houston Field
House to The Approach. Class members posed with a photograph of
the memorial plaque at the Reunion ceremony. "The Approach was part
of our lives and daily activities," said Joe Klope '44 at the ceremony.
"We were among the last to have an emotional and practical involvement
with The Approach."
