Alvin Mundell 87 was acknowledged for his career achievements when he was presented a Presidents Award at the 2003 Black Engineer of the Year Awards Conference, held in February in Baltimore, Md. Mundell is division engineering manager, electronic technology, with Abbott Laboratories in Columbus, Ohio. An electrical engineering major at Rensselaer, he was selected from a field of more than 100 candidates. The 17th annual Black Engineer of the Year Awards Conference honored successful black inventors, technical innovators, gifted scientists, budding engineers, and high-level managers and executives in private industry, government agencies, and the military. Hosted by U.S. Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine, the Council of Engineering Deans of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and Lockheed Martin Corporation, the annual conference brings together college administrators, engineering and IT professionals, scientists, and high-level decision-makers from the corporate, government, and military communities, in an effort to broaden diversity in this countrys technical and scientific work forces. |
