Rensselaer Around the World

Several international events have taken place in the last few months, where alumni welcomed to their countries representatives of Rensselaer who presented updates on the progress of the Rensselaer Plan. In Hong Kong, alumni chapter president Alfred Li ’73 hosted a reception at the China Club on March 7.

Nearly 20 alumni and guests, including Rensselaer Professor of Computer Science Frank Luk, turned out to hear Dean of Science Joseph Flaherty present an update on the Rensselaer Plan. Above, from left, are Frank Luk, Jenny Li, Alfred Li ’73, and Vivian Luk.
Around the World Nearly a dozen alumni gathered at the Sheraton Maria Isabel Hotel in Mexico City March 18 to welcome a Rensselaer delegation to Mexico that included the deans of engineering and graduate education, along with representatives from Rensselaer’s office of professional and distance education, and international advancement.

Pictured, at left, are Dean of Engineering Bud Baeslack ’78 and Victor Taboada-Urtuzuastegu, Ph.D. ’95.
Teoman Guler ’01 organized an alumni dinner at a traditional Turkish restaurant in Istanbul Jan. 30 to welcome Rensselaer at Hartford Professor Frank Jenkins and his wife, Beth (center and right), who provided an update on the Rensselaer Plan. Also in attendance were Bulent Sankur ’72, Levent Ovacik ’91, Ozgen Colak ’01, Can Ozturan ’88, Ali Samikoglu ’93 (on left), Ugur Tezcan ’00, and Nuri Erkunt Tirpan ’61. Around the World
