Worldwide Connections:
Alumni Travel Program
W. Robert McIntosh 60, Michael Wellner 64, and Carl Westerdahl will lead the program. They succeed John Buckley 49, who managed the program with great success for many years before his death in April. The trio brings a range of experiences to the program. McIntosh has managed major hotels including New Yorks Plaza and the Sagamore Resort in Lake George, and was vice president of Omni Hotels. Wellner was principal of the Kemwell Group, a leading wholesaler of tour and travel programs to Europe. Westerdahl is a former dean of students and director of alumni relations at Rensselaer. Each mans unique background and their combined experiences with Rensselaer will add a new dimension to the direction of the program, says Jeff Schanz, director of alumni relations. Rob, Michael, and I are pleased to accept the challenge of building on the foundation established by John Buckley, and we are excited about the future of Rensselaer alumni travel, says Westerdahl. Our goal is to offer first-class travel experiences to graduates, faculty, staff, families, and friends. We are committed to ensuring an RPI presence on each trip to create opportunities to learn more about Rensselaer and one another while learning more about the world. Upcoming trips for 2004-05 include: Hawaii, Feb. 13; Costa Rica, Feb. 18; National Parks, June; Russia, July 18; Tuscany, July 28; Ireland, Aug. 10; Amsterdam to Budapest, Sept. 5; Trans-Canada, Sept. 28. For more information on the new tours, contact the alumni office at alumni@rpi.edu or (518) 276-6205. |
