|Student Life Leaders Named
Changes to leadership in the Division of Student Life reflect priorities of The Rensselaer Plan and the Institutes commitment to excellence. Eddie Ade Knowles was promoted to vice president of student life and Mark Smith, former director of the Office of Minority Student Affairs, was named dean of students. Lisa Trahan, former associate dean of students, heads the newly created Office of the First-Year Experience.
|Hartford Wins UTC Grant
A grant from United Technologies Corporation is creating a multimedia classroom on the Rensselaer at Hartford campus to enhance instructor and student presentations and ensure that graduate programs and learning technologies are consistent with the communitys changing business and educational needs.
|Licensed to Heal
Patents for a key step in making microbial cellulose have been donated to Rensselaer by Kimberly-Clark Worldwide. Microbial cellulose holds significant promise for use in healing human tissue. The donated patents have been licensed to Xylos Corporation, an Incubator company founded by Rensselaer alumni.
|Building a Better World
During a campus visit in April 2002, Millard Fuller, founder and president of Habitat for Humanity International, honored Rensselaer students for establishing the 700th Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter.
