Class Note submitted by Karl Kusche 89, Sept. 19:
My experience with RPI ambulance prompted me to continue EMS education to its highest level: National Registry Paramedic. I have used this training primarily as a volunteer firefighter/paramedic in my communitys fire department ambulance.
It was recently put to the test during the World Trade Center tragedy as I participated in the rescue effort in New York City on Tuesday, Sept. 11, and Wednesday, Sept. 12. Both my wife, Cathy, and I responded in during the first hours as volunteer paramedics to one of the World Trade Center ground zero triage areas. Tower 7 fell before our eyes as we were only a few blocks away and had to run for cover. The scene was, and still is, surreal and hazardous.
Please continue to keep all EMS, fire, and police personnel in your thoughts.
