CEO of Level 3 Communications Named the 2003
William F. Glaser ’53 Rensselaer Entrepreneur of the Year

James Crowe ’72, CEO of Level 3 Communications, has been named the 2003 William F. Glaser ’53 Rensselaer Entrepreneur of the Year by Rensselaer. Crowe’s company, based outside Denver, Colo., is an international communications and information services with revenues of almost $4 billion.

Crowe will deliver a keynote address to Rensselaer students, faculty, staff, and the community at the Heffner Alumni House on Tuesday, Oct 21 at 9 a.m. The lecture will follow the monthly Venture B-Plan Series presentations, which will begin at 8 a.m. The campus is invited to both events. More

Rensselaer To Host Biotechnology Symposium

A symposium exploring the opportunities in commercialization of biotechnology, biomedicine, and nanoscience and examining the role of scientists in the business world will be held at Rensselaer on Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Heffner Alumni House. More

Engineering Students Launch “Intelligent Blimp” Project

Engineering students at Rensselaer are designing an embedded control system that will lift an 11-foot blimp off the ground and make it fly indoors, and in the process they are launching a new phase for a showcase course at the university. More

Joseph Bruno Among Honorees at 10th Annual Honors Convocation

New York State Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno will receive an honorary doctor of laws degree at Rensselaer's 10th annual Honors Convocation on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m. in the Alumni Sports and Recreation Center (Armory). The event, open to the entire campus community, honors students and faculty for their outstanding academic achievements. More

Lally School Creates Technology Management Certificate Program for Chinese Executives

Rensselaer’s Lally School has established a technology management certificate program for founders and senior executives of software and information technology businesses in China. Participants in the program will have an opportunity to hone their business skills in product development and technology management through hands-on training and coursework. More
