New Face-to-Face Communication at a Distance

A Rensselaer researcher has developed a first-of-its kind Web-based videoconferencing system that allows groups to have virtual face-to-face discussions without being online simultaneously.

Developed by James Watt, the Time Independent Collaborator (TIC) is patent-pending software designed to improve remote communications for distance-education, business, and other collaborations through Web-delivered video clips. More

Rensselaer Celebrates Autumn With Fall Fest Oct. 25

Rensselaer’s annual Fall Fest is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 25, and the festivities, said organizers, promise to be bigger and better than ever.

Fall Fest is a free “communiversity” event for students, faculty, staff, and the neighboring community. This year, Fall Fest coincides with Family Weekend 2003, so the families and friends of students on campus for the weekend also will be able to attend. More

Obituary: Women’s Hockey Coach William (“B.C.”) Cahill

William D. (“B.C.”) Cahill, Rensselaer’s women's hockey coach, died suddenly on Oct. 5.He was 53. Cahill was entering his fourth season as Rensselaer's women's hockey coach. He also had served seven years as an assistant coach with the men's Division I program. More
