Tien Elected Fellow of AAAS

James Tien
James Tien, the Yamada Corporation Professor at Rensselaer, has been awarded the distinction of American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) fellow. Election as a fellow of AAAS is an honor bestowed upon members by their peers.

Tien was chosen “for fundamental contributions to the development and application of systems engineering concepts and methodologies.” His research interests include systems modeling, public policy, decision analysis, and information systems. More

Rensselaer Vows To Challenge Proposed Scholarship Ban at January NCAA Convention

Flynn Cochran ’04 Wins National Scholarship

The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame has selected Rensselaer student-athlete Flynn Cochran ’04 to the 2003 National Scholar-Athlete Class. Cochran, a senior wide receiver, is one of just 15 student-athletes from all NCAA divisions (I-A, I-AA, II, III, and NAIA) to be recognized. More

Rensselaer Ranked #2 Employer in the Capital Region

Rensselaer has been rated as the second best private-sector employer in the Capital Region, according to the Capital District Business Review’s annual ranking that appeared in the newspaper’s Oct. 17-23 issue.

Employers were ranked based in part on benefits including health coverage, education benefits, vacation and leave policies, retirement plans, and company fitness programs — all of which Rensselaer offers. More
