| On June 16, President
Jackson and the staff of University Events hosted a “thank
you” picnic for members of the Rensselaer community
who volunteered at this year’s Commencement. More
than 200 people worked to help create the May 17 event. |

“A truly memorable
occasion such as this does not occur by magic on a sunny May
morning,” Jackson said. “It is the product of
a great deal of care and thought, months of advanced planning,
days of preparation, and a sustained commitment to quality.

| Commencement this year
was made possible by every one of you. Your energetic and
unselfish participation is a great gift to Rensselaer, to
its graduates, to their families, and to me. Ultimately,
it is a great credit to the entire Rensselaer community.”
