| Rensselaer’s
Eddie Jackson Named Communicator of the Year
Eddie Jackson, associate director for small
business procurement services in Rensselaer’s Procurement
and Administrative Services Department, has been named the
Neil D. Markee Communicator of the Year by the National
Association of Educational Buyers (NAEB). The award acknowledges
individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the
higher education purchasing profession through the written
or spoken word.
The
honor was presented at a luncheon on May 6 in Lake Buena
Vista, Florida. Jackson was recognized for his contributions
to the NAEB’s journal, listserv and archives; his
assistance in guiding his colleagues at other institutions
through federal procurement regulations; and his work coordinating
special interest groups for federally funded procurement
matters, among others.
“I’m extremely pleased that
the NAEB has recognized Eddie’s efforts,” said
Paul Martin, director of small business procurement services,
and Jackson’s supervisor. “His work has really
raised the standards and capabilities of this national professional
organization.”
“To be the recipient of one of the
three NAEB awards presented this year was indeed a thrill,”
said Jackson. “The award, however, also honors Rensselaer.
Without the support and encouragement from my institution,
this recognition would not have been possible.”
Prior to coming to the university in 1987, Jackson held
positions in various procurement capacities for General
Electric.
The NAEB is a worldwide association serving
purchasing professionals employed by colleges, universities,
K-12 school districts, research laboratories, and not-for-profit
healthcare institutions. Founded in 1921, NAEB has 19 regional
groups throughout the U.S., with headquarters in New York.
