Rensselaer's American
Heart Walk Team, composed of 54 members of the Rensselaer
community, raised over $8,000 for the American Heart Association's
Heart Walk, held Sept. 29 in Colonie. In December, the team
was notified they had won the top award in the Education
group, and had placed ninth out of 130 teams in overall
donations raised, beating teams from the areas of education,
government, industry, health, and finance. The 2001 American
Heart Walk raised $422,000 up more than $45,000 from last
year. There were approximately 3,000 participants. 2/4/02

Accolades
John Riker and Martha Merzig,
both participants in the fifth-year architecture competition
studio directed by adjunct faculty member Galia Solomonoff,
received an honorable mention in the Queens Plaza - Design
Ideas Competition of the Van Alen Institute. They were the
only students among the nine winning teams of professionals
in this open international competition to redesign an extremely
