Engineers Defeat Ithaca; Advance to National Semifinals

Rensselaer scored on its first two possessions and held off Ithaca College, 21-16, in the NCAA Division III Football Championship Regional Final in blizzard-like conditions at ’86 Field on Saturday, Dec. 6. Rensselaer improves to 11-1 and advances to its first-ever appearance in the NCAA National Semi-Finals. The Engineers will take on St. John’s (Minn.), who defeated Linfield, 31-25, next Saturday at noon in Minnesota (local time). More

2003 New Venture Opportunity Contest Winners To Be Announced Dec. 9

The RPIdeaLab will announce the 2003 winners of the New Venture Opportunity Contest (NVOC) at an award ceremony at the Heffner Alumni House on Tuesday, Dec. 9 from 4 to 5 p.m. The five winning teams will receive $1,000 prizes during the event, and each will also discuss their new product and service ideas. Rensselaer To Receive Federal Support for New Center for Quantitative and Computational Bioscience

Rensselaer will receive $750,000 in federal funding to support the development of a new Center for Quantitative and Computational Bioscience, which will be part of the Institute’s Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies. Federal support for the new center was included in the Energy and Water Appropriations bill signed into law Dec.1, 2003. More

Rensselaer Community Signs Banner Supporting Division I Sports Teams and Scholarships

Rensselaer’s men and women ice hockey players, along with numerous enthusiastic fans, friends, and members of the university community, have signed a banner supporting the ice hockey teams and Rensselaer’s ability to award athletic grants-in-aid to its Division I student-athletes. The banner was signed at the Houston Field House during the men’s hockey games this weekend versus Yale University and Princeton University. More
