IT Concentration: Industrial Engineering
For those entering the program Fall 2004 semester & beyond
Contact Person: Thomas Willemain
Description: A concentration in industrial engineering will emphasize the design, analysis, leadership and communication skills needed to make systems work productively and effectively for business and government. It will provide B.S. in IT students with a strong technical base in process and system design, data analysis tools, and background in systems modeling, facility design, quality and work systems.
The program will provide B.S. in IT students with "hands on" experiences in the use of robotics, computer-aided design tools, computer-based simulation modeling tools, measurement instrumentation of many varieties, and other pertinent technologies, while providing a unique combination of practical, organizational and technical problem solving skills.
B.S. in IT graduates with a concentration in industrial engineering will find career opportunities in almost all types and sizes of enterprises: manufacturing companies, service organizations, or government agencies at the city, state and federal levels with demand not tied to a single industry or segment of the economy. Career opportunities for these students will also be expanding rapidly in many new areas such as health care, banking and distribution systems. By being uniquely prepared to add value to service organizations, students will be positioned to exploit the economic restructuring of industrialized nations towards the service sectors.
