Lawrence Eichler

Research Scientist

Lawrence Eichler is a research scientist with the Darrin Fresh Water Institute’s laboratory located on Lake George in Bolton Landing, New York.  Larry holds a BS in Biology from Hamilton College and an MS in Environmental Sciences from Florida Atlantic University.  Larry’s research interests include aquatic chemistry and biology with a focus on aquatic plants, particularly the effects of exotic invasive species on native plant assemblages.  

Larry has been with the institute since 1979, serving as the laboratory supervisor for a number of years before assuming his current position.  He is also Past-President of the Northeast Aquatic Plant Management Society where he won their Aquatic Plant Scientist of the year Award in 2008.  Larry serves on numerous regional and national review panels, including the Joint Task Group for Standard Methods for Water and Wastewater, Adirondack Park Agency Invasive Species Advisory Panel, Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program of the Nature Conservancy, Stormwater Advisory Panel for the NYS Dept of State Lake George Watershed Coalition and as a Technical Advisor to the Town and Village of Lake George.  Larry also regularly serves as a guest editor for a number of peer reviewed journals, including the Journal of the Aquatic Plant Management Society and the Northeastern Naturalist.
