Graduate Student (PhD)
Alex started with The Darrin Fresh Water Institute in 2011 as part of the Semester of Study program. After the completion of the program, he spent two additional years at DFWI as an undergraduate intern working on the Asian Clam eradication efforts and environmental DNA of Adirondack Park fisheries. After earning his BS in Biology from RPI in 2013, Alex remained at DFWI to begin his PhD work.
Alex’s current research includes the characterization of the zooplankton community of Lake George. His current work focuses on the differences in the zooplankton assemblages at several sites on the lake and the effects the inter-basin differences within the lake has on them. Alex is also involved with DNA barcoding projects on species found in Lake George.
Outside of the lab Alex works as a referee for local youth hockey, and participates in intramural sports at RPI.
