Brio 101 is an extensive, hands-on
course that provides Data Warehouse users
with
the skills necessary to work with the Brio/Hyperion portal and
Brio/Hyperion
Intelligence software -- the front-end tool for the Data Warehouse.
In
this three-hour class, participants will learn how to build queries,
create
reports, and analyze data on a sample database. |
| Data
Training 2-hour course Instructor: Keith Cushing |
Brio 101 and permission from a portfolio business manager |
To
accommodate users who need access to data marts we offer a flexible,
open-format DATA TRAINING class. Data Training takes the place of
individual data mart sessions and study halls that we offered in the
past. The advantage of this format is that users no longer have
to wait
for a specific data mart session to be added to the schedule. We
typically offer one Data Training session per month. Data
Training is open-ended in that a person signs up through our training
Website
and specifies the training they’re looking for in their registration
email. During the session, DW team members work with users
individually
or in small groups depending on the type of training desired. Data
Training is available for production data marts that have been
rolled-out to
campus. Participants work with production data in Data
Training
sessions. The content varies by data mart, but in general,
includes usage
context, pre-built BQYs, star schemas, dashboards, and security.
Upon
request, we’ll also accommodate general topics like working with
reports,
pivots, charts, combining queries, etc. The
prerequisites for Data Training are Brio 101, and permission from
the
user's portfolio business manager. The portfolio business manager must
complete
and submit our online security approval form for each user, specifying
the
funds, orgs, etc., that the user is allowed to see during and after the
training session. USERS MUST REGISTER FOR DATA TRAINING SESSIONS AT LEAST TWO DAYS IN ADVANCE OF THE SESSION SO THAT WE CAN ENSURE SUITABLE SECURITY PROFILE SETUP. |
| Operational
Training 1-hour course Instructors: Data Experts and the Data Warehouse Team |
Brio 101 and prior access to the data mart used during the operational session |
Operational
training is designed to link business processes to the BQYs that have
been
developed for the data mart. Operational Training sessions are
typically
scheduled after the data mart has been rolled-out to campus. The
training
audience is anyone who uses the data mart on a regular basis. The
training may take place in large or small groups or by
department. Users
should come away from the session understanding why they need the data
mart and
how to use specific BQYs to do their jobs. Follow-up sessions are
scheduled as needed to accommodate changing business processes.
Operational sessions are delivered mainly by data experts on the
business side
with assistance from the Data Warehouse team. |
| One-on-Ones 60 to 90 minute sessions Instructor: Keith Cushing |
Prerequisites vary depending on the training need |
DW
team members are available for one-on-one sessions. The time may
be used
to address specific reporting and/or analytical needs on dashboards,
BQYs, or
star schemas. |
