Spain - “This paper reports on some innovations made to the assessment process of a course of the degree of Psycho-Pedagogy at University of Extremadura. This course is part of the European Convergence pilot courses, where the assessment process is considered to be more important than the final results. The students were asked to reflect on their own learning practice using “Wiki”, a resource form the Web 2.0., as their personal e-portfolios. Using a qualitative methodology, students were asked about the advantages, disadvantages and skills required to develop an e-portfolio. The results proved that e-portfolios are proper tools to develop reflective processes, as well as the capacity to manage information. They can be really useful to assess the learning outcomes whenever the teachers’ feedback exists. However, they were an obstacle when the students didn’t have appropriate technical skills to manage them.”

GifBuilder
GifBuilder is a scriptable utility for creating animated GIF files by Yves Piguet. You can input an existing animated GIF, a collection of PICT, GIF, TIFF, and/or Photoshop files, a QuickTime movie, a PICS file, an Adobe Premiere FilmStrip 1.0 file, or the layers of an RGB or grayscale Adobe Photoshop 3.0 file. Output is a GIF89a file with multiple images. Version 0.5 features frame icons in the Frames window, filters, transitions, animation cropping, and more.

From MP3Gain: MP3Gain analyzes and adjusts MP3 files so that they have the same volume. MP3Gain does not just do peak normalization, as many normalizers do. Instead, it does some statistical analysis to determine how loud the file actually sounds to the human ear. Also, the changes MP3Gain makes are completely lossless. There is no quality lost in the change because the program adjusts the mp3 file directly, without decoding and re-encoding.

Avidemux is a free video editor designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks.
