CAT Program
The Center for Advanced Technology (CAT) program was created in 1983 to promote the transfer of technology from New York State’s top research universities to its industries. The goal is to enhance commercially viable product development in the private sector. There are 15 CATs across New York engaged in the support of university/industry collaborative research and technology transfer in a range of technologies. A list of all CATs and their areas of expertise can be found on the NYSTAR Web page.

The CATs are funded by the New York State Office of Science, Technology, and Academic Research (NYSTAR)

NYSTAR's mission is to:

  • Encourage collaboration between NYS academic research institutions and industry
  • Promote and facilitate the commercial use of the state's academic-based technology and intellectual property
  • Leverage State resources to attract federal grant support for its research programs
