Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC)
As a signature venue, unique in the world, EMPAC offers the latest digital and analog technologies to provide the infrastructure needed for artists and researchers to develop and showcase their works. Drawing strength from being part of a great research university, it will offer artists, researchers, and audiences opportunities that are available nowhere else under a single roof:
- A distinguished 1,200-seat concert hall for major lectures, premieres, and campus-wide events
- A 400-seat theater with exceptional staging and lighting capabilities
- Two "black-box" studios (3,500 square foot and 2,500 square foot) ideal for dance, multi-screen presentations and immersive research environments.
- A 1,400 square foot rehearsal studio
- Four studios for artists-in-residence
- Professional-level recording, editing, and post-production facilities, and
- Recording, editing and broadcasting facilities for WRPI.
