Computing is integrated into the curriculum here.
All undergraduate students are required to have a laptop computer that meets the requirements of our Mobile Computing Program.
Laptops are a way of working, communicating, and analyzing. Picture it: you’re in a classroom, in the library, in a lab, in the student union, or back in your room it doesn’t matter you can instantly access class materials, your notes, and all of your personal files (not to mention e-mail and the Web) using a wireless connection or one of the thousands of network ports all over campus.
We offer a laptop package which includes a state-of-the-art computer loaded with a customized software image.
You’ll receive the greatest value for your dollar and on-campus repair and consulting support to help you get the most out of your laptop.
Benefits of participating in the Rensselaer Mobile Computing Program include:
- Value: In partnership with Lenovo, we’re able to offer this laptop package at a substantially discounted price.
- Commonality: Your classmates and instructors will be using the same system and software.
- Appropriateness: The laptop comes ready for your Rensselaer course work and is configured for easy connection to the Rensselaer network.
- Service and Support: The laptop is fully supported by on-campus consulting and repair services.
At the end of June, we will announce the laptop selected for the Class of 2017. Since technology continues to change at such a rapid pace, we wait until the last moment in order to select the most up-to-date system. We’ll send you the details about our very competitive purchase plan and provide order forms in late June. Laptop packages are distributed in late August during Navigating Rensselaer & Beyond.
