You’ll register for your Fall 2016 courses when you’re on campus at one of the five Student Orientation sessions.
You’ll have an opportunity to meet with faculty, staff, and students in your intended major before you register so you may select the courses that are right for you.
If you plan to attend Student Orientation Session 4 or 5, which occur just before classes begin, you’ll still be able to register for your required classes. Most disciplines are flexible enough to provide you with options at registration, ensuring that you will get all the classes that you need. The availability of elective classes will fluctuate by Student Orientation session with several choices available to students attending each session.
Advanced Placement/International Baccalaureate Credit/Transfer Credit
When you register, we’ll share details about how Rensselaer applies Advanced Placement/International Baccalaureate credit. The Office of the Registrar will provide you with a copy of the credit you’ve been awarded based on your AP and Higher Level IB test scores. You’ll receive your fall schedule upon the completion of your course registration at Student Orientation.
Make sure your official AP/Higher Level IB test results are sent directly to the Office of the Registrar, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 110 8th Street, Troy, NY 12180.
If you’ve taken courses for regular academic credit at another college or university, please send catalog course descriptions and college transcripts to the Office of the Registrar now so that they can be evaluated. College courses taken to satisfy high school graduation requirements are not considered.
Your Student Records
Your student records are protected by the Family Educational Rights Privacy Act (FERPA). At Student Orientation we’ll describe this Act and what it means to you. The bottom line is that the records are yours. We’ll be sending bills and other official correspondence directly to you, the student.
