Rensselaer’s extensive preparation of students to enter the next stage of their lives reaches far beyond the classroom.

The Career Development Center (CDC) is acclaimed by Rensselaer alumni for helping students take charge of and manage their futures — everything from writing a resumé and polishing job interview skills to researching career options and potential employers.

The center offers a comprehensive program of career development, co-op, internship, and job placement activities to both undergraduate and graduate students. Rensselaer students have 24-hour access to many career services and resources via the Web.

Graduating Student Services

In 2006-2007, more than 2,200 students registered with the CDC for on-campus recruiting and applying for open jobs.

As of June 1, 2007, the top employers for the Class of 2007 are: Accenture, BAE Systems, Bank of America, Boeing, Capital IQ, CDM, Cisco Systems, General Dynamics Electric Boat, GE, IBM, Lehman Brothers, and Lockheed Martin.

Cooperative Education Program

Rensselaer's optional Cooperative Education (co-op) Program, which is open to both undergraduate and graduate students, provides an excellent vehicle for students to gain work experience while still in college.

Approximately 300 students participated in co-op in 2005-2006, working for leading employers such as Boeing, GE, IBM, Goldman Sachs, IBM, Intel, Pitney Bowes, RPI, Schick-Wilkinson Sword, UTC, and Vicarious Visions.

The vast majority of co-op students obtain their jobs through the Career Development Center and can apply for a wide variety of positions across the country.
