Politics of Science and Technology
An introduction to the processes by which society guides (and fails to guide) science and technology. Aspects of politics to be studied include Congress and the Presidency, courts, regulatory agencies, interest groups, business, media, and public opinion. Substantive topics include government support of scientific research, environmental regulations, NASA, advanced weaponry, robotics, and biotechnology. Prerequisite: any 2000-level STS course or permission of instructor. Annually.
