Theory of Solids I

An introduction to the theory of solids. Theory of the free-electron metal, band theory, and phonons. Application to the electrical, optical, and thermal properties of solids. Qualitative discussion of cohesion. Prerequisite: PHYS-6520. Fall term annually.
